1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Privateer Trading Co. website ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. DDP Pricing Model

All prices displayed on the Site are Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) prices in US Dollars. This means the price you see includes:

• The product price
• All applicable customs duties and import taxes
• International shipping via DHL Express
• All handling and logistics fees

There are no surprise fees. The price displayed at checkout is the total amount you will be charged. Prices may fluctuate due to exchange rate changes between the Euro and US Dollar; the final price is locked at the time of checkout.

Price breakdown

For transparency, every landed USD price is composed of:

• The artisan's wholesale cost in EUR, converted to USD using the mid-market exchange rate at checkout plus a 3% margin to absorb currency fluctuations between order and artisan settlement.
• A Privateer product margin covering curation, quality verification, customer service, and artisan relationship management.
• Customs duties, international shipping via DHL Express, and handling fees — collected once, at checkout.

This disclosure is provided in line with Italian Codice del Consumo Art. 49 and EU consumer transparency requirements. Prices are locked at the moment you complete checkout — subsequent changes to the exchange rate or wholesale cost do not affect your order.

3. Orders & Confirmation

When you place an order, you will receive an order confirmation email. This confirmation acknowledges receipt of your order but does not guarantee acceptance. We reserve the right to cancel orders due to pricing errors, stock unavailability, or suspected fraud.

Because our products are handcrafted by Italian artisans, production times vary. You will receive email updates at each stage of your order's journey: crafting, shipment, customs clearance, and delivery.

4. Cancellation Policy

You may cancel an order before crafting has begun. Once an artisan has started production on your item, the order cannot be cancelled. To request cancellation, contact us as soon as possible at orders@privateertrading.net.

If cancellation is approved, a full refund will be issued to your original payment method within 5–10 business days.

5. Returns & Refunds

6. Product Descriptions & Authenticity

We make every effort to accurately describe and photograph our products. Due to the handcrafted nature of our goods, slight variations in color, texture, and dimensions are inherent and not considered defects. Each piece is unique.

All products sold on the Site are authentic, handmade goods sourced directly from verified Italian artisan workshops. We guarantee the provenance and authenticity of every item.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including text, images, logos, product photography, 3D models, and design elements — is the property of Privateer Trading Co. or our artisan partners and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Privateer Trading Co. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site or purchase of products. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific product giving rise to the claim.

9. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Site shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in Texas under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Nothing in this section prevents you from exercising your rights under applicable consumer protection laws.
