A generous throw blanket in Casentino wool — the curly, weather-resistant fleece from heritage Tuscan sheep. Hand-woven and naturally dyed in forest green and chestnut brown.
Estimated delivery times are approximate. Handcrafted and custom orders may vary. You will be notified promptly of any significant delays.
Casentino wool comes from a heritage breed of sheep native to the Casentino forests of eastern Tuscany. The fleece is uniquely curly and weather-resistant — shepherds' coats made from this wool have kept Tuscan farmers dry for centuries.
Sofia sources her Casentino wool directly from a family farm in the Pratomagno mountains and processes it with traditional carding techniques that preserve the distinctive curl of the fiber.
The forest green comes from a combination of weld (yellow) over-dyed with indigo. The chestnut brown comes from walnut hulls gathered in autumn from the Casentino forests themselves.
