Set of four hand-painted dinner plates in the grottesche style — fantastical creatures and botanical forms inspired by the decoration of Roman grottoes, reimagined in Deruta majolica.

When Renaissance artists discovered the painted rooms of Nero's Domus Aurea buried beneath Rome, they called the fantastical decorations "grottesche" — paintings from the grotto. These whimsical designs of intertwined creatures, flowers, and architecture became a defining motif of Italian decorative arts.
Marco's grottesche plates bring this tradition to the table. Each plate features a unique composition — collect all four for a set that tells a complete visual story.
